2 new (Australian) Vagus Nerve Reset Books to help you calm the farm
Some of you come to see me simply wanting to learn how to quell sensations of anxiety in your body, without necessarily going into the feelings and beliefs behind it all.
We use your breath, self touch and sometimes movement to improve the tone of your vagus nerve and help you down-regulate (calm) your nervous system.
I share with you my favorite polyvagal techniques I’ve absorbed along the years from thought leaders in trauma therapy: Peter Levine (Somatic Experiencing), Pat Ogden, Deb Dana, Bessel van der Kolk (“The Body Keeps the Score”) and some from old-skool somatic psychotherapy.
(See below my top 3 ranking videos of all time)
These elders of the somatic psychotherapy world have all written books, but just recently two young Australian women have launched books and they’re blummin good. I find them much more accessible for the general public to read. (You’ll know what I mean if you’ve ever tried to tackle “The body keeps the score”.) Plus I love to support fellow Australian women in their endeavours.
So here they are 🙂
Author, Anna Ferguson, has lived experience of trauma, having experienced a rollercoaster accident at a young age. She explains the different parts of your nervous system and how it can go funky when trauma or chronic stress hits. And takes you through simple techniques to down-regulate (calm) your nervous system.
Physiotherapist Jessica has been bringing awareness to vagus nerve research and exercises to calm your nervous system for several years. I attended one of her online seminars and I thought she was fabulous. Launched one month ago! Go Jessica!
